The Fragrance of Meditation

Meditation has always been hard for me. It’s difficult to remove outside “noise”. What I’ve found to work for me is to essentially overwhelm all five sense. I used to set my meditation by playing instrumental music, covering my eyes with a sleep mask, and holding crystals in my hands. I was getting better but something else was missing. I realized that was scent. When I started working from home during Covid-19, I would always have a candle lit at my desk. Every time I took a frustrated deep breath I would get a calming whiff. That’s when it clicked! I’ve started lighting candles with my meditation and it’s helped my focus and general breathing practices. I took it a step further by researching the benefits of scents and how they play with Chakras. So each Meditation and Self-care candle was made with intention!

Rose- is associated with multiple Chakras, love, relationships, and compassion. It’s said to open and soften the heart and is a natural up lifter or mood enhancer. It helps balance mind, body, and spirit.  All benefits for magnifying practices in meditation, intention, and manifestation.

Jasmine- is commonly associated with Sacral, Heart, Third Eye Chakras. It’s considered a sensual sent in relation to the Sacral and Heart Chakras. It also enhances intuitive capabilities and our connection to the Universe, opening the Third Eye Chakra. This strengthens spell and manifestation work.

Gardenia Mint- Gardenia is most beneficial for the Sacral Chakra. This scent helps reach deeper into your spirit and is essential in releasing pain and suffering. This paired with Mint’s benefits of dispelling negative energy and enhancing self-expression, make the perfect scent for shadow or inner child work.

Peony- is generally noted as related to the Root Chakra. It’s power resided in it’s symbolism of good: good luck, good fortune, etc. Ideal for manifesting prosperity, good health, or admiration.

Lavender- is essential for Third Eye and Crown Chakras. It’s the perfect scent for meditation since it creates a calmness that allows for a deepened the universal connection.

Lilac- rules the Crown Chakra. It’s said to align all seven Chakras opening the entire energy system and is instrumental in healing. Lilac is a great scent that can assist in everything from daily meditation to more intense shadow and trauma work.

Lotus- The Lotus Flower is a symbol of enlightenment, regeneration, and rebirth. The scent is great for manifesting growth or new beginnings. It’s also a strong visual for meditation connecting all the Chakras. Consider the bud rising through the Root Chakra to the Heart Chakras, opening to your intentions and blooming into the “Lotus of a thousand pedals” at the Crown Chakra.

Eucalyptus- is a natural expectorant. Physical and energetically it benefits the Throat and Heart Chakras. It symbolizes openness and freedom which are key for both of those chakras. It’s also great for meditation when you just don’t feel well. It has a lot of medicinal qualities.

Mint- is related to the Third-Eye Chakra. It helps connect mind and body. Like eucalyptus it’s medicinal as well, known to help with migraines, depression, and memory loss.

All my love,

Megan
